Let’s actually use the available science

With an explosion of scientific research on training and behavior in animals, there is SO much information out there for us to use.

Scientific information allows us, as pet professionals, to go beyond our own experiences to use techniques, protocols, and ideas from a much wider circle.

This larger context gives us more information so we can make decisions about the methods we want to use and recommend. This can then be combined with your individual ethical perspectives to ultimately improve the welfare of the animals we work with, and their relationship with their people.

Have we met?

Hi! I’m Janet Cutler, PhD
Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist

In addition to helping people with pet behavior problems, I’m a science nerd who has always loved learning. I know that finding and interpreting scientific research can be time consuming and oftentimes difficult to access. That’s why I like to bring the important pieces to pet professionals, so they have confidence in their knowledge and recommendations when it comes to training and behavior.

With an MSc in Applied Ethology, and a PhD that focused on Animal Welfare and Epidemiology, I bring both scientific knowledge and the ability to assess the study design, statistics, and validity of the behavior and training research.
